In the summer of 2009, Erica Shea and Stephen Valand quit their
advertising jobs and with a small savings started making beer kits-
because "beer is recession-proof!" Erica became a beer maker after she
discovered her Dad's old brewing kit but had trouble finding the
ingredients in NYC. And really everything is available in NYC- so a
niche was born! They started selling them at the Brooklyn Flea Market,
the word got out and the rest is history. Their kits have been featured
in New York Magazine, Time Out, Real Simple and many more. It has also
been mentioned on CBS, Live with Regis and Kelly and NBC. What a great
gift for that beer loving guy in your life! They say, beer making isn't
difficult and that "if you can make oatmeal, you can make beer." It
requires little space, will save you money and your beer will probably
even taste better than the bottled beer you can buy down the street!
We can't think of a better Father's Day Gift! Give him each flavor:
Grapfruit and Honey, Everyday IPA, Tea and Toast and Spring Lager.
Lager comes from the German word meaning to store, and, in the case of
beer, usually somewhere cold. That can make them a little difficult to
brew at home unless you still have that mini-fridge from your college
days. So we came up with our Spring Lager. Brewed and fermented at
room-temperature, it's a style traditionally called a California
Commons, bringing together the best parts of ales and lagers into an
amber, deftly hopped glass of beer perfect for any season. Ingredients include: Malted Barley Blend, Hops, and Yeast with 5.0% ABV.
Kits include:

- glass fermenting jug
- screw-cap stopper
- 3-piece chambered airlock
- racking cane
- 12" laboratory thermometer
- 4' clear vinyl tubing
- tubing clamp
- cleanser
Items not included but needed:
