Rebecca Coagan Scharlatt is the brilliant designer behind Coatt, a Morse
code jewelry collection of lovely necklaces that are simple, elegant,
sweet and sophisticated. Launched in 2010 and picked up by many
well-loved bloggers, Coatt's necklaces are comprised of gold filled
beads and bars that spell out special words or messages in Morse code.
Morse code is "a method of transmitting information as a series of
on-off tones, lights, or clicks that can be
directly understood by a skilled listener or observer without special
equipment." Morse code is an international "language" that encodes the
Roman alphabet and the Arabic numerals, a few punctuations and signals
with standardized sequence of dots and dashes. Anything can be visually
translated in Morse code but we picked a few of our favorite words. Each
necklace is hand strung in Portland, Oregon on ultra strong silk cord.
Each necklace is 16" long and sits delicately on the neck. We love these
necklaces as gifts as each necklace has its own special meaning to the
giver and the wearer and it will be well-loved. It's amazing how each
word has a distinct, unique design. Or treat yourself and wear a word
that you feel strongly about such as "love," "mom" or our favorite
"sos." Each necklace is so simple, it's perfect for every outfit. Feel
free to contact us at customerservice@orangeandpear.com for custom
requests.
Mom is certainly a great word to wear with pride or to give to a new or "seasoned" mom. The design is beautiful- all dashes- constant, strong, unbreakable . . . should we go on with other qualities of great moms? We offer it in 16" with gold filled beads on gray cord.
Please note the neck shots are just to
show the look of the necklace on a neck, the correct bead design can be
found in the initial still shot.
