Apple & Bee
Apple
& Bee is an Australian owned company that was started by Brett Pattinson,
the founder of the successful natural skincare line company Bod and Bod for
Bulbs and Clair Morris, the former art director for Marie Claire. They met on a
small back street in the inner Sydney suburb of St. Peters. The founders,
Claire and Brett (now husband and wife), had warehouses next door to each
other. The street was called Applebee Street. Brett's family has apple orchards and had
grown apples in the town of Yetholme, Australia for 75 years. Claire's mother's family name was Badger which
literally translates to "maker of bags." So, their venture was destined! Brett
and Claire also share a love for bees and what they do for our planet in the
process of cross pollination for the creation of the food we eat. Both share a passion for the best in
contemporary design and a belief that it should be applied to practical,
everyday objects. They are also
committed to developing a company that has the lowest possible impact on the environment.
Apple & Bee is carbon neutral and
their bags are made out of organic cotton, bamboo silk and hemp. They are proud to be achieving their
"neutral" status through an association with the internationally
recognized organization called Climate Friendly.
